I have been 3D printing for over a year, mostly as a hobby but also doing some work for friends. I love the polysmooth filament and polysher machine. It really adds a professional look to some prints and I have found it adds a bit of sturdiness to some finer prints.I made this soap holder for my mom. It was a perfect project for smoothing and making water proof, no little lines for water/soap to sit in.Different colors seem to need a little adjustment when printing and definitely keep this type of filament dry!!! It is very sensitive to moisture and you will have bubbles and strings if you don’t store it away from humidity. I use a couple types of dryer boxes (Sunlu and Polymaker) while printing, especially on humid days in PDX, and store my filament with desiccant.I like using this filament even if I don’t smooth the final print. It seems to print with less noticeable lines and is a bit more shiny than basic PLA. I don’t do this often because it is more expensive than my other go to filaments. I have not tried to smooth my prints without the Polysher machine, but I do have a couple larger projects I want to try, and it seems others have been successful with DIY smoothing.Overall, Polysmooth filament is great for a lot of prints, even if you don’t smooth them. Be prepared to possibly make some setting adjustments, but the final product is worth it!
