This "tool" is useless. it doesn't hold the filament firm enough to get the 2 ends lined up. Then, the hole in the silicone part is so small, you can't get the splice through it. The ends come out, you spend an hour trying to splice and chasing ends of filament to the point of frustration that you give up and just throw your short end away. No amount of filament is worth this circus.
